Make Way for Ducklings
Overview
Description
A duck couple is house hunting and ends up in Boston, where they explore, evaluate and adapt as they set out to raise a family.
Author and illustrator Robert McCloskey, of Blueberries for Sal fame, has a knack for mingling animal characters with humans, this time mixing the natural world with the urban.
As with any solid nature documentary, we come away empathizing with our animal neighbors, a bond that is reinforced by the expressive emotion in these illustrations—for example the joy in mama duck’s face as she struts down the street, trailed by her brood.
