Do you need a crib base with this? I know we have to purchase our own mattress, but I saw a review stating they had a crib base they put a sheet over to cover the contents of what was put into the drawer.

Cute but not good quality
It looks great and was easy to put together. However, the spindles feel like dense cardboard. I was going to purchase the rails to make this into a full size bed, but I'm not sure anymore because it feels disposable. I hope once baby gets older she doesn't pull on them too hard b/c they feel like they might snap. I guess I should have taken my parents up on the crib I used as a baby.

Glad I bought this!
Crib looks nice, is easy to assemble, has multiple mattress height options, and has plenty of storage space in the drawer. I took off a star because the contents of the drawer can be seen underneath the mattress when it is set to the newborn/highest level -- I solved that problem by laying a black tablecloth on top of the mattress base under the mattress. I draped the cloth sides just to "kiss" the top of the drawer.
